With over three decades of experience, Mr. Grant has honed his expertise in designing and implementing advanced estate plans, wealth protection strategies, executive retention programs, and business succession solutions. Since being admitted to the California State Bar in 1994, he has worked extensively with families, privately held businesses, and non-profit organizations.
Mr. Grant specializes in crafting intuitive succession and retention plans, particularly for companies and families with significant investment real estate holdings. Recognized for his innovative approaches to addressing complex family and entity structures, he has embraced a holistic planning methodology that has led to a growing number of family office engagements in recent years.
A nationally acknowledged expert in life insurance advisory, Mr. Grant collaborates with life insurance carriers to consult on product design and pricing. He also provides guidance to non-profit organizations, advising them on executive retention strategies and methods to safeguard and grow charitable contributions.
Mr. Grant graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a B.A. and California Western School of Law with a J.D. He serves on the boards of trustees for the San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Foundation and The American Institute for Musical Studies (AIMS) Foundation. He is also a former board member of The Del Mar Foundation and Chairman’s Roundtable. Additionally, he is an active member of the Policy Advisory Board at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego and has served as a guest lecturer for several graduate programs in San Diego.
An accomplished author, Mr. Grant has written two well-regarded books: Tax Deferred Investing (Wiley, 2000) and Estate Planning is About More Than Death and Taxes (Wiley, 2005). He frequently speaks at estate planning and investment conferences and has appeared as a speaker on NBC’s Early Today, discussing estate planning topics.
A San Diego native, Mr. Grant resides in Del Mar, California, with his wife of 30 years, Emily. An avid golfer, bodysurfer, and mentor, Mr. Grant also finds joy in giving back to his community.
